Going up to the mountain in winter is a great way to open up the Northern trip experience. To feel the touch of the pleasant natural atmosphere that makes you feel relaxed from the stress. Today, we have gathered enchanting mountains in Chiang Mai that you should visit at least once in your life, a great way to escape from the hustle in the city.



 

1.  Doi Mon Jam

Doi Mon Jam is widely known as one of the first tourist attractions everyone thinks of when it comes to the Chiang Mai trip. Located in Nong Hoi Royal Project Development Center, Mae Ram subdistrict, Mae Rim district, Chiang Mai Province. The weather is cold all year round. You can see the sea of fog and enjoy the fresh air in the morning. There are 2 main viewpoints in Mon Jam; one side is a mountain range, and the other side is the royal project for growing agricultural plants. If you want to go camping in the mountain, there is also a camping space and tent service you can enjoy.

2. Doi Ang Khang

Doi Ang Khang, also known as "The Royal Agriculture Station Angkhang," is located in the Dan Lao mountain range, in the Mae Ngon subdistrict, Fang district, which is full of various winter plants with cold weather all year round. You can enjoy the sea of fog at the viewpoint, which is perfect for taking photos. In the past, there was a shifting cultivation and opium cultivation. Then later, The Royal Agriculture Station Ang Khang was established as a place to experiment and research winter plants to improve the life quality of the local villagers so that they could have the knowledge to make a living. There are villagers' restaurants on Doi Ang Khang, where you can experience authentic local lifestyles.

3. Doi Inthanon

If you think of the highest peak in Thailand, Inthanon would be the first name that pops up in mind. Doi Inthanon was declared a National Park in 2515 BE and covers the area in Chom Thong District, Mae Wang District, Mae Cham District, and Doi Lhor Branch District in Chiang Mai Province. There are many attractions and nature trails that you shouldn't miss around the area. You can use a minibus service at Mae Klang Waterfall to go up to the hill. There are also accommodations inside the Park to accommodate the visitors who need to witness the morning sea of fog in winter.

4. Doi Kham Fah

Doi Kham Fah is located in Mae Ngai Watershed Management Unit, Thung Khao Phuang subdistrict, Chiang Dao district, at 1,834 meters above sea level. During mid-January, you can see the stunning scenery of Wild Himalayan Cherry Blossom. This is a fertile watershed with prestigious surroundings, perfect for seeing the sea of fog. You can see the peak of Doi Luang Chiang Dao from a viewpoint in the camping area. Ideal for nature huggers, you can spend nights camping amidst nature. If you are interested in staying overnight, you need to contact the Mae Ngai Watershed Unit in advance because there is a limit on tourists daily.

5. Doi Luang Chiang Dao

Doi Luang Chiang Dao is an entirely limestone mountain originating in the Permian period. It is a part of Thanon Thongchai moutain range. The name originally comes from the hill's height; "Luang" in the Northern language means "big," and the word "Chiang Dao" comes from "Peang Dao." It is the second highest peak with a height of 2,225 meters, where you can see thin layers of the sea of fog from the top of Doi Sam Phi Nong and Doi Pyramid, on the top of Doi Luang peak. In Chiang Dao, the weather is quite cold. When you look below, you can see complex hills scenery. You can go camping and enjoy watching the stars at night and the sunrise in the morning.

6. Doi Mae Taman

Doi Mae Taman or Sa Pa Kia is located in the Mae Taman Watershed Management Unit. From the beginning of January to mid-January, you can see the stunning scenery of Wild Himalayan Cherry Blossoms or Thailand's Sakura. San Pa Kia, or the San Pa Kia Highland Agriculture Station, is the place for the trial project for highland development Thailand-Australia as the trial plots for growing winter plants. You can see Doi Luang Chiang Dao on the opposite side of Doi Mae Taman, famous among tourists for watching the sparkling stars at night. And welcome your new day with the beautiful sunrise and sea of fog scenery.

7. Doi Pha Hom Pok

It is widely known that Doi Inthanon is the highest peak in Thailand, with over 2,600 meters in height. However, Thailand's second highest mountain cannot be anywhere except Doi Pha Hom Pok, located in the Dan Lao mountains. The highlight is the mountain is covered by moss, and the topography is a complex high mountain stretching from the North to the South. The forest's general condition is fertile, widely known as the watershed forest of the Fang River. The charm of Doi Pha Hom Pok would be a variety of rare, exciting wildlife and plants. And a viewpoint where you can see the sea of fog scenery that comes together with morning sunrise and the picturesque sunset viewpoint.
